En esta obra podemos ver a una religiosa vestida con el hábito propio de la orden dominica. Sostiene en sus manos un libro abierto; destaca el típico rosario sobre el pecho.En la parte inferior de la pintura existe una cartela donde se menciona que la religiosa María Lugarda Encarnación nació en Puebla el 8 de diciembre de 1802, siendo sus padres José Ignacio Muzi y Teresa Rita Otañez. De igual manera se menciona que tomó el hábito en el convento de Religiosas de Santa Rosa el 14 de enero de 1818 y profesó el 14 de noviembre de 1819.
